Update on COVID-19 vaccination rollout and where to get the vaccine
The Ministry of Health is advising the public that the following COVID-19 vaccination sites are available for those eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. The fixed vaccination sites that are currently operational and where people could go for a vaccine include Saupia Health Centre at North Efate, Maurifanga (Imere) health centre, Erakor Dispensary, in addition to the National Convention Centre.
Three private healthcare providers in Port Vila, Efate island, are currently providing COVID-19 vaccines. These include Novo medical, Vila Private Hospital, K.B kalwat memorial health centre, Family care centre and Medipole. The public is advised that they will be a charge when receiving a vaccination at a private healthcare provider.
During this time of community transmission, pregnant women are encouraged to get their COVID-19 vaccine. First, second and booster doses are available for pregnant women.
People living close to these facilities are advised to go to these vaccination sites for a COVID- 19 vaccine. Get the COVID-19 vaccine now and a booster dose five months after completing your first vaccination course. COVID-19 vaccines provide very good protection, especially against severe disease. A booster dose will make sure the protection of the vaccine is even stronger and longer lasting. A booster shot increases your protection against severe illness, hospitalisation and death due to COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccination protects against severe disease, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health is working to open up additional vaccination sites and will advise the public once these sites open up throughout Port Vila and Efate
Everyone must continue COVID-19 preventative measures. Wash hands regularly, practice respiratory hygiene, and clean and disinfect surfaces regularly. Stay at home if sick and wear a mask going out or in public places.
