SUMMARY AND DISEASE BURDEN

  • On 04 March 2022, an active COVID-19 case was confirmed at Vila Central Hospital who had no travel history, indicating transmission at community level.
  • On 07 March 2022, Efate and Offshore Islands moved to Alert Level 3: Very High, due to large-scale community transmission. All provinces of Vanuatu are on Alert Level 3 given reports of cases or movement of contacts of cases in the six provinces of Vanuatu.
  • A total of 6314 confirmed cases have been reported since the beginning of 2022.
  • 225 new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, including 122 on Efate island (Shefa province) and 103 Santo island (Sanma province),br />**Discrepancies with data reports may result from lags in data entry and reporting at a national and provincial level**

  • As of 08 April 2022, Shefa and Sanma provinces are at Alert Level 3 (Very High Risk) due to large-scale community transmission. The other four provinces of Vanuatu are at Alert Level 1 (Medium Risk) due to the risk of importation of COVID-19
  • A total of 6109 confirmed cases have been reported since the beginning of 2022.
  • 143 new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, including 90 on Efate island (Shefa province) and 53 on Santo island (Sanma province).

SUMMARY AND DISEASE BURDEN

  • On 04 March 2022, an active COVID-19 case was confirmed at Vila Central Hospital who had no travel history, indicating transmission at community level.
  • As of 08 April 2022, Shefa and Sanma provinces are at Alert Level 3 (Very High Risk) due to large-scale community transmission. The other four provinces of Vanuatu are at Alert Level 1 (Medium Risk) due to the risk of importation of COVID-19
  • A total of 5932 confirmed cases have been reported since the beginning of 2022.
  • 184 new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, including 64 on Efate island (Shefa province) and 120 on Santo island (Sanma province). The high number on Santo Island is explained by the report of the cases through the week-end.

Ministry of Health confirms another death linked to COVID-19

The Ministry of Health today another new deaths linked to COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to date to seven (7) deaths.

The person is an 81-year-old man with underlying conditions. The death occurred several days ago but has recently been confirmed to be due to COVID-19 infection. He was fully vaccinated.

  • On 04 March 2022, an active COVID-19 case was confirmed at Vila Central Hospital who had no travel history, indicating transmission at community level.
  • As of 08 April 2022, Shefa and Sanma provinces are at Alert Level 3 (Very High Risk) due to large-scale community transmission. The other four provinces of Vanuatu are at Alert Level 1 (Medium Risk) due to the risk of importation of COVID-19
  • A total of 5536 confirmed cases have been reported since the beginning of 2022.
  • 25 new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, including 25 on Efate island (Shefa province) and 0 on Santo island (Sanma province).
