Pregnant women urged to get the COVID-19 vaccine now

The Ministry of Health is urging all pregnant women to get their COVID-19 vaccine now.
Acting Director of Curative & Hospital Services, Dr. Sereana Natuman said, “COVID-19 vaccines offer pregnant women strong protection against severe illness from COVID-19. I urge everyone, especially pregnant women, to get their vaccine soon so that they can take advantage of this crucial protection.”

  • On 07 March 2022, Efate and Offshore Islands moved to Alert Level 3: Very High, due to large-scale community transmission. All provinces of Vanuatu are on Alert Level 3 given reports of cases or movement of contacts of cases in the six provinces of Vanuatu.
  • A total of 952 confirmed cases have been reported since the beginning of 2022.
  • 174 new confirmed cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, including 163 on Efate island (Shefa province) and an additional 11 on Santo island (Sanma province) that are in the process of being inputted into the national reporting system
